You're running a tight ship,
but your systems are costing you.

Jobs close before the paperwork catches up Hours get forgotten. Change orders go untracked. By the time you invoice, you're guessing — and you're always low.

Safety docs exist only on paper, if at all A GC asks for your fall arrest plan or JSA and you're scrambling. One MOL visit and the exposure is real.

You're the system Everything lives in your head. When you're on site, the office stalls. When you're in the office, the site waits.

No real-time margin visibility You find out a job lost money after closeout — not when you could still fix it.
"Having a system I trust take 4 or 5 things off my plate has been a huge benefit."

The right fit matters.
Here's how to know.

✓ This is for you if...
  • You're running a 2 to 50 person trades or construction company in Ontario
  • You've had jobs close and suspected you left money on the table
  • You've scrambled when a GC asked for safety documentation
  • You're the system and you know it needs to change
  • You want to fix the right things first instead of guessing
  • You're ready to act on what you find
✗ This is NOT for you if...
  • You're looking for generic business consulting advice
  • You're not in trades or construction
  • You're not ready to act on what the report recommends
  • You're looking for the cheapest possible option
  • You want someone to tell you everything is fine

The report is yours.
What you do with it is up to you.

The audit report ranks your gaps by financial and liability impact. You choose which gaps to address and in what order — or you don't act on it at all. The report stands on its own.

If you choose to address the gaps, each recommendation maps to a specific tool in our library. Fixed scope, fixed price. You know exactly what you're getting before you commit.

Tools built standalone connect into a full integrated system when you're ready. You don't have to buy the farm to fix the most expensive problem first.

The audit is a legitimate business expense. You receive a proper invoice from Charron Digital Group Inc.

Your Questions, Answered.

What if I'm already using software like Jobber or QuickBooks?

The audit reviews your workflow, not your software. Most gaps exist regardless of what tools you're using. If your current tools are working well in certain areas the audit will reflect that.

Do I have to buy anything after the audit?

No. The report is yours. You can act on it yourself, hire someone else, or come back when you're ready. There's no obligation beyond the $600 flat fee.

How long does the audit take on my end?

The intake form takes 20 to 30 minutes at your own pace. The follow-up call is 30 to 45 minutes. Your total time commitment is under an hour.

Is this just a sales pitch for your tools?

The audit stands on its own. The recommendations are honest — if your gaps don't map to our tools we'll tell you that. We'd rather give you an accurate report than a convenient one.

What if I don't agree with the findings?

The follow-up call exists specifically to discuss the report. Findings are based on your intake responses and our analysis — if something doesn't reflect your reality, we want to know.

Can I expense this?

Yes. The audit is a legitimate business consulting expense. You receive a proper invoice from Charron Digital Group Inc.

What size company is this built for?

Trades and construction companies with 2 to 50 employees operating in Ontario. If you're outside that range reach out — we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense.

One MOL Visit Away From a Problem You Could Have Prevented.

Most small contractors in Ontario are operating without the safety documentation the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) requires. A fall arrest plan, daily JSAs, and worker orientation records aren't optional — they're legal requirements.

Templates should be reviewed against current MOL and WSIB requirements for your specific work type. Plumbline templates are provided as a starting point, not legal advice.

Where Audit-Grade Thinking
Meets the Tools to Back It Up.

Why Plumbline exists.

Plumbline exists because most trades and construction companies in Ontario are running their operations the same way they did ten years ago — spreadsheets, group texts, paper timesheets, and a lot of things living in the owner's head.

The cost of that shows up at job closeout, during a WSIB audit, or when a good employee leaves and takes half the institutional knowledge with them. It's not a technology problem. It's a controls problem.

The tools to fix it have existed for years. What was missing was a team that understood both the operational gaps and how to build systems that close them — without charging enterprise prices or requiring IT departments to maintain them.

That's what Plumbline is. Fixed-price operational control tools built specifically for the trades and construction companies that are too busy building things to build their own systems.

"Most software companies build platforms first and figure out the problems later. Plumbline starts with the audit."

Plumbline is the company's productized service line — fixed-price tools, structured audits, and free resources built specifically for the owner-operators who keep Ontario's construction sector running.

The work is grounded in a background that combines internal auditing with hands-on systems development. That means every engagement starts with understanding how a business actually operates — not how it's supposed to — before anything gets built. Controls thinking first, tools second.

The result is a system that fits the business rather than the other way around. Platforms built on this approach don't require enterprise budgets, don't demand IT departments, and don't need a manual to operate in the field.

Charron Digital Group Inc. holds all IP, signs all contracts, and stands behind every tool and system delivered under the Plumbline brand.

We Find the Gaps First
Before anything gets built we understand exactly where your operation is breaking down and what it's costing you. The audit isn't a formality — it's the foundation everything else is built on.
Then We Build the Fix
The tools that close your gaps are custom-configured to your workflow — not generic software you have to adjust your business to fit. Built once, maintained easily, owned by you.
Designed to Connect
Every tool is built on the same architecture. Standalone tools connect into a full system when you're ready. Nothing gets thrown away. Everything compounds.

Four things that don't change.

Straight Talk
We tell you what we find in the audit even when it's uncomfortable. We scope tools honestly. We don't sell you things you don't need.
Audit-Grade Standards
Every system we build is designed with an immutable record. If something happens on a job, in a payroll dispute, or during a WSIB audit, your system has the paper trail.
Your Workflow, Not Ours
The system gets built around how you already run your business. You don't change your process to fit the software. The software adapts to fit you.
Lean by Design
Plumbline is deliberately lean. That means every client engagement gets senior-level attention from the team that designed the system — not a junior account manager who inherited your file.

Built Here. Built for Here.

Plumbline is focused on trades and construction companies across Ontario — the compliance references are Ontario-specific, the understanding of the market is firsthand, and the tools are built for the contractors who work in this province. Research & Methodology

The numbers behind
the gaps we fix.

Every claim Plumbline makes about revenue leakage, compliance exposure, and operational cost is grounded in documented research and transparent assumptions. This page shows our work.

Baseline profile used throughout: An Ontario trades or construction company generating $1.2M in annual revenue with a 10-person crew running 4–6 active jobs at any time. The owner manages the business rather than working the tools directly. Where ranges are provided, the lower figure reflects a $800K operation with 6 crew and the upper reflects a $2.5M operation with 14 crew. All dollar figures are in Canadian dollars unless noted.

Where the money goes unbilled.

Revenue leakage in trades and construction happens primarily through three channels: untracked change orders, incomplete closeouts, and payroll inaccuracy. Each is preventable. None show up on your P&L until after the job closes.

Annual Revenue Leakage
$15K–$40K
Estimated annual unbilled revenue for a trades company operating without formal change order and closeout controls. Based on documented scope creep rates of 3–5% of project revenue applied to a $1.2M baseline.
Source basis: Hyperstart (2026), SAP Global (2024) — scope creep accounts for 3–5% of project revenue in service-based businesses.
Unbilled Change Orders
3–5%
Of annual project revenue lost to scope creep and unbilled extras in businesses without formal change order controls. Widely documented across construction and service industries. On a $600K operation, that's $18,000–$30,000 annually.
Source: Multiple industry analyses including Hyperstart Revenue Leakage Report (2026) and SAP Global Unbilled Change Requests (2024).
Payroll Leakage Rate
1–2%
Of total labour cost lost to timesheet inaccuracy in manual tracking environments. On a $600K operation with 35% labour ratio ($210K), that's $2,100–$4,200 annually in payroll errors and misclassified overtime.
Source basis: DeskDay MSP Revenue Leakage Report (2025) — manual time tracking error rates of 1–5% documented across service industries.

What missing documentation actually costs.

Compliance failures in Ontario construction aren’t abstract. They show up as stop-work orders, WSIB claim penalties, and lost GC relationships. The costs are real and quantifiable — they’re just spread out over time, which is why most contractors don’t see them until after the fact.

Cost of a Stop-Work Order
$4,000+/day
Direct cost of a Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) stop-work order for a 10-person crew. Includes crew wages, equipment rental, and project delay. Typical resolution time for missing fall arrest documentation: 1–3 days.
Estimate based on Ontario construction crew day rates. Crew wages: 10 workers × ~$300/day = $3,000. Equipment rental: $500–$1,500/day depending on site. Total: $3,500–$4,500/day.
WSIB Claim Without Records
$25K–$50K
Estimated employer cost of a WSIB lost-time claim without proper policy acknowledgment and safety documentation. Includes WSIB premium surcharges, legal defence costs, and lost productivity. Without documentation, the employer’s position in any dispute is significantly weakened.
WSIB Schedule 1 employer surcharge data. Average lost-time claim costs documented at $23,000–$40,000 CAD by WSIB actuarial data; legal defence and admin adds $2,000–$10,000.
Annualized Expected Cost
$11K–$15K
Annual compliance cost estimate for a contractor operating without required safety documentation. Combines probability-weighted stop-work exposure (once every 3–5 years) plus WSIB claim risk (once every 4–6 years) plus lost GC tender opportunities.
Plumbline estimate. Methodology: stop-work annualized $1,500–$3,000 + WSIB claim annualized $5,000–$8,000 + one lost tender per 5 years at 15% margin on $150K job = $4,500 annualized.
Compliance Exposure Calculation — Baseline Contractor
Assumptions: $1.2M revenue · 10-person crew · No current JSAs, fall arrest plan, certification tracking, or policy sign-offs · Probability-weighted annual exposure
Stop-work order exposure (annualized: 1 incident every 4 years × $7,000 avg. cost)
−$1,750
WSIB claim exposure (annualized: 1 incident every 5 years × $35,000 avg. cost)

Year 1 ROI
101%
Estimated Payback Period
Under 12 months
Important note on compliance ROI: The compliance calculation is probability-weighted — it reflects expected annual cost given typical incident frequency, not a guaranteed annual cost. A contractor who has never had a stop-work order may not see direct savings in Year 1. The value is in eliminating exposure to low-probability, high-cost events. The ROI is real, but it’s risk reduction, not guaranteed revenue recovery.

The cost of running everything yourself.

Owner dependency has a dollar value. Every hour you spend chasing timesheets, managing subs by memory, or rebuilding institutional knowledge after someone leaves is an hour you didn’t spend estimating, selling, or running the business forward. That’s an opportunity cost — and it compounds.

Admin Time Lost Per Week
10+ hrs
Estimated weekly hours an owner-operator spends on administrative tasks that could be systematized — chasing timesheets, managing paperwork, tracking subs manually, and following up on site status. Research across service businesses puts admin at 20–36% of owner working time.
Source basis: Time etc. Entrepreneur Survey (2023) — entrepreneurs spend 36% of work week on admin. Research by businessingmag.com (2026) — 20–30% of working time in service businesses. Applied to a 45-hour owner work week.
Annual Opportunity Cost
$62K+
Annual value of owner time spent on systematizable administrative tasks. Based on 12 hours/week at $100/hour opportunity cost for an owner who manages rather than works the tools (one hour of estimating or sales time that converts to a project at 15% margin on a $60K contract is worth $1,500).
Plumbline estimate. Methodology: 12 hrs/week × 52 weeks × $100/hr opportunity cost = $62,400. The $100/hr is conservative for an owner managing a $1.2M operation.
Key Person Departure Cost
$15K–$25K
Estimated cost of losing a key foreman in an operation where institutional knowledge isn’t documented. Includes recruitment, onboarding, and the productivity gap during the 60–90 day transition period while the replacement foreman learns what the previous one knew.
Plumbline estimate. General replacement cost benchmarks: 50–150% of annual salary for skilled trades workers. Foreman at $70–$80K salary = $35,000–$120,000. We use the conservative low end.
Operational Exposure Calculation — Baseline Contractor
Assumptions: $1.2M revenue · 10-person crew · Owner manages business, not in field · No formal systems for timesheets, sub tracking, or site visibility · $100/hr owner opportunity cost
Timesheet chasing — 3 hrs/week × 52 weeks × $100/hr
−$15,600
Site status management (calls, texts, follow-up) — 4 hrs/week × 52 × $100
−$20,800
Sub management by memory and phone — 2.5 hrs/week × 52 × $100

Estimated Payback Period
2–3 months
Important note on operational ROI: This calculation is based on opportunity cost — the value of time recovered, not hard revenue directly deposited. The ROI is high because owner time is valuable. But recovering 10 hours/week only produces financial return if that time gets redirected to revenue-generating activity. For most owner-operators who are already turning away work or underestimating jobs due to capacity constraints, it does. For those who are not capacity-constrained, the benefit is quality of life and business resilience rather than immediate revenue.

Which ROI stat to lead with.

The three lenses produce three different payback periods. Each resonates differently depending on what the prospect cares about. Our recommended test sequence:

Start Here — Default
3–4 Months
Financial lens. The most conservative and most defensible claim. Based on hard revenue recovery, not opportunity cost. Resonates with contractors who are already aware they’re leaving money on the table. Best for cold traffic and general ad audiences.
Test Second
6–8 Weeks
Operational lens. Higher and punchier, but based on opportunity cost which some contractors discount. Best for ads targeting owner-operators who are stretched thin and already feel like they’re doing too much.
Test Third
Under 12 Months
Compliance lens. Most conservative payback. Best for larger operations that already have some systems and are specifically worried about MOL exposure — the CGV Group profile. Less effective for cold general audiences.
